Mathieu Vadepied is a French filmmaker whose work is driven by empathy, intimacy, and the power of human connection. He first established himself as one of French cinema's most gifted cinematographers and artistic directors, working alongside Jacques Audiard on Sur mes lèvres and Olivier Nakache & Éric Toledano on Intouchables and Le Sens de la fête. Vadepied is also the artistic director of the acclaimed series En Thérapie, a landmark in contemporary French television, for which he also directed several episodes. His first feature film La Vie en Grand was selected at La Semaine de la Critique at Cannes in 2015 . His most recent feature, Tirailleurs, starring Omar Sy, follows a Senegalese father and son during World War I and was selected as the opening film of Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022. Through his work, Vadepied has built a filmography that moves between intimate storytelling and larger historical narratives, with a consistent focus on crafting an intimate journey into the lives of his characters.
